I am supporting the Courage Classic for patients like my son, Dorian.
At the age of 5, Dorian was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer called medulloblastoma. The tumor rapidly increased in size and blocked blood flow to his brain causing a stroke.
When Dorian needed to start chemotherapy treatment his family searched for a hospital that could treat the cancer while considering the complications caused by the stroke. After a phone consultation with one of the doctors at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders Dorian's family made the difficult decision to pick up and move states to get the very best in care. The experts at Children's Hospital Colorado made sure Dorian received award-winning care throughout his entire treatment.
Now Dorian has been cancer free for seven years. He continues care at the Rehabilitation Clinic and numerous other specialty clinics at Children's Hospital Colorado. Thanks to the peace of mind the hospital has provided, the family has made their home here in Colorado. We are excited to all ride in the Courage Classic this year to raise money for Children's Hospital Colorado considering how impactful the hospital and it's team members have been in our lives.
As Dorian continues to grow, he has been able to participate in outdoor activities all year round thanks to the Adaptive Recreation for Childhood Health (ARCH) program. Dorian is even riding his own recumbent bike in the Courage Classic this year!
