Thank you for visiting my courage classic fundraising page! I am stoked to be tackling the 80 mile bike ride in the mountains of Colorado again this July to raise money for the Heart Institute at Children's Hospital Colorado. I am extra excited to riding in the 20 mile family ride as well this year with my 8 year old daughter, Claire.
This year, I am riding again in honor of a patient of mine named Elleigh. Elleigh is a 1 and a half year old who was born with a critical congenital heart disease lesion called hypoplastic left heart syndrome where the left side of the heart does not develop correctly. She had her first open heart surgery (the Norwood operation) at 1 week of age and was admitted to the hospital for 3 months. She has undergone three more open heart surgeries since then. Because of the severity of her congenital heart disease, Elleigh and her parents needed to stay locally in Colorado for 15 months before she could finally go home to Kansas! Despite her complex congenital heart disease, Elleigh is a happy, tenacious, and thriving little girl - the true definition of a heart warrior.
I am so honored to be able to ride for her again this year. I am proud to be able to raise money and awareness for the patients and families affected by congenital heart disease. The money we raise will go straight to these kids and their families to provide lodging, food, and other support. Thank you SO MUCH for your donation to this awesome cause!
