As a Pediatric ICU nurse, I care for children who are at their most vulnerable while recovering after traumatic injuries, severe illnesses, or complex surgeries. The courage these kids show is incredible, but it’s the medical care and family support that make all the difference. I see families go through unimaginable stress, navigating the complex medical world while supporting their child’s recovery. That’s why events like the Children’s Hospital Colorado Courage Classic are so important.
The funds raised from the Courage Classic help us continue to improve the care we provide in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). They also support education and professional development for our staff. For example, I was lucky to attend the PICU Learning Symposium, which allowed me to deepen my skills in pediatric intensive care. It helped me expand my knowledge, learn from top experts, and bring back insights that improve the care I provide.
But the impact doesn’t stop there. These funds also help purchase advanced medical equipment and enhance family support programs. These tools and resources are essential in the PICU, helping give our young patients the best chance for recovery. The Courage Classic makes it possible for us to continue offering high-quality, compassionate care when children need it the most.
This event isn’t just about cycling; it’s about the people it helps - especially the doctors, nurses, and staff who dedicate themselves to improving the lives of these kids. Every dollar raised supports better care, better training, and better resources for everyone involved.
Fundraising for the Courage Classic ensures every child receives the best care possible and that every healthcare provider has the tools they need to provide it. I’m proud to contribute to this mission and grateful for the support that makes it all possible.
