I am supporting the Courage Classic for patients like Conor!
I have known Conor since he was born and have had the honor to work and grow alongside him through his heart transplant. He is an incredibly strong little guy and I will always treasure the adventures we had during his time in the hospital.
Conor is now 5 years old. He was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which is a congenital heart defect. He has had three open heart surgeries since he was born; and countless other procedures in between. He was on the road to recovery from his third heart surgery in October 2022. In December 2022, he was admitted for fluid buildup around his lungs. They were able to get some of that fluid pulled off and was thankfully discharged on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, the fluid came back, and he was
admitted again on December 28th, 2022. On January 6th, 2023; doctors informed Amanda and Branden that Conor had heart failure and was going to need a heart transplant. Before his transplant can take place, he needed to travel to Philadelphia for another procedure- Lymphatic system surgery (this will block off the fatty arteries that are causing the fluid buildup). Once back in Colorado, he was placed on the heart transplant list- the average wait for a donor heart for children is over a year. During this portion of the waiting game, Conor was hospitalized until he was to receive his donor heart. After being in the hospital for 14 months… Conor finally got the call we all were
waiting for on 2/9/2024 they had a heart for him. Conor went in for surgery on 2/10/24 to put in his new heart. It is now a year later and Conor is doing amazing with his heart transplant. He has grown so much and is enjoying living a happy and healthy life. We are so grateful that The Maloney Family want to ride in honor of him at the Courage Classic.
