Dear Family, Friends and Supporters,
It has been eight years since I last rode in the Courage Classic Bike Tour. When I took on the challenge in 2016, I was eager to try something new—an over 100-mile ride in just two days, through the beautiful mountains around Copper and the daunting ascent of Vail Pass. Somehow, I made it—though just barely. Over the years, my family and I have continued to support the event, joining Wheels of Justice to honor a patient and support the 7th floor of Children’s Hospital, the incredible team of doctors who saved my wife’s cousin’s life when he was diagnosed with leukemia as a child.
This past year, as we once again made our way to support Courage Classic, something felt different. Everything about the weekend was the same—the excitement, joy, and sense of community—but a piece of me was aching. In the summer of 2023, I lost my stepmother, Noel Myers, to peritoneal cancer. It has been one of the hardest experiences of my life.
As I watched riders cross the finish line, I found myself choking up, overwhelmed by a flood of emotions—memories of joy, pain, and loss. I realized then that I needed to do something. I was angry at cancer, at how it takes so much from so many. But we are not powerless. Even in the face of grief, we can take action.
We can conquer mountains. We can help transform children’s health. We can be part of raising millions to support vital research and care.
This year, I am riding again—not just for myself, but in honor of Noel, in support of every family battling illness, and in the hope that we can create a future where cancer no longer steals the ones we love.
I invite you to join me in this mission—whether by riding, donating, or simply spreading awareness. Together, we can make a difference.
With gratitude,
Sean Mundt
