I started riding the Courage Classic in 1991. It began as a fun and challenging way to ride my bike in the mountains with other like-minded people while raising money for a great cause. My purpose expanded when we had children, Liam and Keegan when each became a patient with Children's. I was immensely appreciative of the care they received. Now I ride for both reasons and to give hope to Children’s Hospital Colorado patients like Piper.
Piper was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma – a form of cancer that was growing as a soft tumor in her spine. Today, after many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation at Children’s Hospital Colorado, the creative, big-hearted elementary schooler is cancer-free. Piper's family says they made it through many tough days with help and support from every area of the hospital.
Our boys are now healthy 21 and 20-year-olds. Liam is now entering his senior year in college, and Keegan his Junior year in college. I am so thankful to Children's Hospital!
The Courage Classic is an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for kids like Piper, Liam, and Keegan.
