Why I ride
Well, this is the 36th time I've participated in the CC and many of you have donated many times, some all 35 so far! I'm one of about 12 "Founders" who have participated in all the CCs.
This year the tour has 2 days and both the normal "Copper Triangle" and the a new Loveland Pass long routes as well as shorter versions. What shall I do? Last year I didn't have enough practice to complete the Day 1 "Copper Triangle" which is about 80 miles and 6500ft of climbing (give or take). So, this year I have more training but still far short of ideal. We'll see what happens.
In any case as the years go by, I need to train harder but I'm still riding OK. I ride for many reasons, certainly for the kids who need our help. But I also ride for the joy of Colorado, being around all kinds of "can do" people and because I try and stay in shape.
That last reason is becoming more important to me as I grow older - will be 79 by the day of the ride - since so many people my age are now using the medical system in a big way. It seems the better health we old folks maintain, the more resources will be available to the young who have most of their lives in front of them.
So, as usual, Doris and I have made the base pledge necessary to ride. Anything you donate are bonus bucks. I realize times and priorities change. But it all goes to the Children's Hospital so thanks for anything you can donate.
