For 15 years, I have ridden the Courage Classic without a true personal connection.... Until now.
Last yearinJanuary, my daughter Madeline got sick. It started as pneumonia, then it became an abscess in her brain. She spent a total of 3 weeks in the hospital and had 2 surgeries. And don't forget, 2 months of PICC line antibiotics at home. 3 weeks is a pretty short time compared to what some families experience. But it was more than we wanted! And it was enough to get a taste of some of the amazing things The Children's Hospital does for kids. This is hard for parents, but I knew she was in the best hands possible because of what I've seen at the Courage Classic.
And it didn't stop there... This year, Alex and Madeline have BOTH been to Children's. I'm so grateful for the work they do!
Last year, I got to help Jack set new records for speed and distance. Will we set new ones again this year? Let's find out!
