I ride to give hope to Children’s Hospital Colorado patients like my daughter Maya.
Maya is a joyful, goofy, loving, and fierce 2 year old. She spends her days raising heck with her twin sister. We are thankful for each day with her as we were never sure we would get these moments.
We found out about Maya’s heart defects at our 20 week scan. Once we learned what we were facing we transferred our care to Children’s Hospital Colorado. Maya was born along side her twin and brought to the cicu. With her unique combination of defects it was decided that a heart transplant was the best course of action. She received her gift of life just in time after over 6 months of inpatient life. We hit many bumps and complications pre and post transplant and almost lost this joyful kiddo on more than one occasion. Our gratitude to the heroes at children’s and her donor family is unending. We owe so much to the amazing heart institute team. We would not have gotten this far without them.
