I am riding for all the children and their families at Children's Hosptial.
My grandson, Elijah, was diagnosed at 34 weeks gestational age with Hydrops Fetalis, which is a rare condition. Elijah was born at UCHealth Anshutz on August 10th, and was transferred to Children's Hospital Colorado 18 hours later to be placed on ECMO, effectively a heart and lung bypass machine. Elijah fought hard for three additional days, getting to meet his momma and daddy and all his aunts/uncles/grandparents before passing away early in the morning on August 14th, 2022.
The care that both Elijah and our family received from the gracious staff/doctors/nurses at Children's Hospital Colorado was second to none, and that is why we are riding to support their efforts. While Elijah unfortunately could not be saved, we know he would love donations in his name to help the wonderful people at Children's Hospital save other babies just like him.
