I ride to give hope to Children’s Hospital Colorado patients like Kohen.
Kohen was diagnosed with Shones like complex when he was born. This has turned into a long battle between home and hospital. He spent 5 1/2 months in the hospital from birth; during this time we had to fight his body to gain weight and grow for him to be able to have his first of many heart surgeries. He was in the OR for 13 1/2 hours while the surgeons fixed and mended his little heart. After surgery he fought with his pulmonary hypertension which caused a need for high amounts of oxygen and different types of breathing assistance. He coded once going back for a cardiac catheterization, which they ended up not doing. He was finally able to go home on many medication and oxygen and a feeding tube. He's been admitted back into the hospital with an internal bleed and infection now. He is the happiest sweetest little boy.
