Bikes have been apart of my life since being introduced to mountain biking my freshman year at the University of Texas. Two wheels have since taken me all over the country, competing in bike races, triathlons and tours. Ultimately, those same two wheels landed me in Colorado where I met my wife Sara and we started our family of 5. Denver has been a wonderful place for our family and the Children's Hosptial Colorado has been an amazing resource to us and many more.
This year I am joining friends in helping raise awareness of the amazing work the Children's Hospital Colorado does for kids and families by participating in the Courage Classic bike ride. The Courage Classic is two days of 80+ miles over high Colorado mountain passes where the air is thin and roads aren't flat. And after two years not touching a bike, it will be a real test.
But this event is special. 2024 is special. This will be three years in a row! Personally, Sara and I welcomed our third child, Chandler Mary Watts just at the end of 2021. We couldn't be more happy and feel we have completed our family along side her siblings Benjamin and Emilia. And that is what the Gears for Greg team is about - family. A few years ago, my friend lost her father Greg in a bicycle accident. He loved cycling and he loved his grandchildren.
So we are riding in the memory of Greg. And we are riding for kids. And we are raising financial support for the amazing work Children's Hospital Colorado does for families. A resource we have personally benefited from.
