I know one thing that I will have in common with my bike at the end of the ride. We'll both be two tired.
This year I am once again riding to support Children's Hospital of Colorado and all the wonderful things they do. For my third year of riding, I plan to ride as courageously as I can, and match the courage shown by the children treated at CHCO. Children like Abel and Joanne who both have receiving treatment at CHCO and will benefit from the donations given to courage classic riders.
Abel was diagnosed in utero with Tetralogy of Fallot. He had his first surgery at 4 days old which was a complicated one. This surgery was not the last. Abel has had 6 additional surgeries that he has successfully recovered from.
While Abel was recovering from a procedure, he discovered he was going to be a big brother! Joanne and Abel were born 12 months and 17 days apart. Joanne was also born with Tetralogy of Fallot. Her journey has been less complicated than her big brother's, but not without need for major treatments. She had her full heart repair surgery at 3 months old and is doing well.
I'm asking all my friends, family, and CHCO supporters to join me in supporting all the kids and families, like Abel and Joanne, that receive care at Children’s. Any donation, large or small, can help me reach my goal of raising $500.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children.
