Hey I'm Evan!
I'm an avid cyclist and rock climber. My wife is a Peds Cardiatric Nurse with Children's Hospital Colorado. We try to give back to the community and support Children's Hospital Colorado with fundraising events like the Courage Classic. The magic that happens at Children's Hospital is essential and would not be possible without your generous donations. The Courage Classic is a bike ride like no other, granting a fabulous opportunity for everyone to come together and support a great cause while enjoying the amazing Colorado outdoors.
This year my ride is dedicated to Josiah. Josiah's mom wrote a little about how amazing he is and I'm so honored to be able to ride for him.
"Josiah is a sweet 10 month old baby boy that was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, DORV, Dextracardia, and recently scoliosis. The night he was born, he went into cardiac arrest and was unresponsive for 13 minutes before they were able to revive him. After recovering on ECMO for several days, he went through a balloon atrial septoplasty. A few days after that, her got his first open heart surgery, a hybrid procedure. Unfortunately, that failed and they were not able to complete it. It was then determined that Josiah would need a heart transplant. He was listed the highest priority status 1A on September 22, 2022 and has been patiently waiting in the hospital ever since for his hero heart.
Josiah is a very stoic baby. He loves when his older siblings come to visit him, snuggles, and HATES baths. A few of his favorite nurses can coax smiles from him and he is slowly starting to make noises. He has the longest eyelashes in the world and constantly gets compliments on them. We pray that this is the month that he gets his new heart and we can start our journey home."
