This year is my 7th Courage Classic Bicycle Challenge! I’ll be riding with my son and heart warrior, Jeremy on the Cardiac Climbers Team. We raise funds for The Children's Hospital (TCH) Heart Institute with the hope of increasing the survival of children born with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD)..:the most common and deadliest disease in children.
Jeremy was born with CHD has miraculously survived to date…but there is no cure. Real tough to know this fact. He’s 23 and living/teaching at a middle school as their band director. Transitioning to new doctors, new insurance has been challenging. We are blessed with the organization Heart Works who paired with Levi’s Legacy to outreach to parents and inform of incredible research changing skin cells to beating heart cells! Jeremy feels fortunate to be connected for his future life needs.
This year we have a second heart warrior in the family; Rusty. My DH (dear husband) had open heart surgery in December to remove a benign tumor and is doing well. We are so grateful for his living today! Alas, he is not ready to ride the Courage Classic this year, but plans to next year. This year he will drive our support vehicle though!
