Why we ride
This year we are riding the Courage Classic once again. By now, most of you know about our son Owen's heart problems since birth and how he has been progressing over the years. This Courage Classic will be special as we will be riding with some family friends, pedaling together to support the Hospital that has saved Owen's life, not in only one occassion but in several different times.
This past year, Owen had good heart results but we know that his next open heart surgery is approaching quickly and most likely on his next growth spurt. Since he is about to hit puberty, (Owen turns 13 this July), we know it is right around the corner. He still gets checked out by his cardiologist every year and we have had good news so far.
The Courage Classic has become a family event that means so much to us. We feel blessed to be part of the Cardiac Climbers Team and to have the opportunity to make a difference through our riding efforts. Going through something like what Owen and the whole family went through, made us realize how many people are in need on a daily basis, and how important it is to have the medical support that Children's Hospital provides relentlessly. This Hospital makes miracles on a daily basis. Owen is our miracle. How could we not participate in this event to help this hospital create many more wonderful miracles?
Each Hospital stay, and visit, reminds us of how much we owe to this wonderful institution that has supported us so much. It is only logical that we would want to give back and help raise funds to be able to pay it forward.
We know that there are many different great causes that you can donate to, so we thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts, if you decide to make a donation to our ride for Children's Hospital Colorado. Together we can make a difference! Together we can impact so many little lives! Let's do it! We will be forever grateful for your generosity!
