PUDGY'S 25TH YEAR!
This year is a milestone not to be missed. Pudgy Pete will be fundraising for his 25th Courage Classic Tour (after riding in almost every single one, save for a couple due to wretched back surgeries!). Over his 25 tours, Pudgy’s dedication to fundraising has added up to something remarkable.
This year, he aims to hit the Big One—one million dollars raised for the kids at Children’s Hospital Colorado through the Courage Classic . That means he needs to raise $60,000 this year (which he will match, dollar for dollar). Proceeds will fund three brilliant young researchers at Children’s Hospital Colorado as they pursue research in Heart/Lung, Surgery, and Diabetes.
THE SILVER JUBILEE
Much like Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, Pudgy’s milestone will be marked by a series of nationwide events, including street parties, parades, and a special service in St. Paul’s Cathedral. Okay, we lied about that last one, but the occasion will be momentous.
The historic, two-day tour is only a month away! The ride starts in Copper Mountain, goes to Vail and back (44 miles and summits Vail Pass twice), followed by a second-day loop from Copper Mountain around Lake Dillon and back (42 miles). Pudgy’s speed has slowed considerably, but he doesn’t mind. You see, it gives him far more time to chat and be adored by his beloved subjects.
Pudgy’s training regime is nothing short of regal. His typical and very peculiar diet of chocolate will be supplemented by mince pies and ample amounts of clotted cream. Pudgy is also now only responding to the name “Your Majesty, Sir. Pudgy”. His wife Cathy is none too pleased by this latest development.
But as a man of the people, Pudgy’s main aim is to give back to those who need it most. And no, we’re not talking about his wish to secure a Bank Holiday dubbed “Day of Pudge” in which everyone will be required to sit outside and eat ice cream wearing hats.
Help Pudgy achieve his dream of raising a cumulative one-million dollars for Children’s. Donate to his ride, and support life-saving research for the kids at Children’s Colorado.
