Our daughter Sarah started work at Children's Hospital Colorado in the NICU in 2009.
Sarah picked up Jeanne and I at the train station the day after Christmas 2009, when her shift had ended. There she was, on the front page of the Denver Post in Full Color, working in the NICU. She was still quite emotional after working through Christmas with the various families stuck in the NICU with their little ones. She said that was the GREATEST experience she ever had. Celebrating with those families that didn't want to be there either. Wow, that's when I knew she had selected the right career. What a special gift.
Little did we know...After Ana was born in 2018 at 37 weeks, 2350 grams (5 lbs 2 oz), they'd get to see the NICU on their own time, not during normal work hours. Luca (#2) had no issues. Nico (#3) at 8 days old got a virus from brother & sister that sent him to the NICU for 2 days. You never knew you'd be here for work and personal needs. At least Sarah knew every single person on staff in the NICU, that's comforting.
That's exactly why we are supporting the NICU Spinning Spokes For The Littlest Folks. Our own family has been able to benefit from the amazing facility and staff at Children's Hospital Colorado NICU.
Please join with us to help support this amazing facility and the wonderful comfort they bring to families in their most critical, emotional time of their life. What a great cause, please help to support the NICU. Thank you from the Hodgin family and Children's Hospital Colorado!!! And when you get to be my age, never hurts to ride bikes with medical professionals that know how to deal with a kid at heart. Thanks again!!!
