Why I ride
Seven years and it seem like just yesterday that I had signed up for my first Courage Classic. Every year has been so different. Different purpose. Different experience. Just different. This is why I ride.
This is my forever purpose.
1. Heather Faith Lohmeyer. This ride will always be dedicated to her. She taught me how to love BIG and forever changed me for the better.
2. For the NICU staff members who work every day to save babies when there was no one who could save theirs. These amazing people, who like me, were selected to join a club we never asked to join. We know first hand what it is to lose a baby. To hear those dreaded words. To say goodbye before every getting to say hello. To watch all the hopes and dreams for our child's life comes to an end. We live every day fighting to save a life and then quietly walk away, find a private corner, and cry for our own. We help parents hold their baby for the first time, wishing we had gotten to hold ours just once. We fight for yours because no one could for ours. I ride for these people who do the unthinkable. Who fight for others when no one is fighting for them. I ride to remember and honor their babies who are all to often forgotten. I ride because I couldn't do this journey without them.
