This is my 4th summer working with Climbing For Kids to support Denver's Pediatric Mental Health Institute. The Pediatric Mental Health Institute is a non-profit organization within Children's Hospital Colorado that serves more than 7,000 kids annually. As many of you know, mental health support holds personal meaning to me and my family.
This is a HUGE year for Climbing for Kids! Climbing For Kids 2023 will hike Mt. Bierstadt on Friday, Aug 4th. Our 2023 goal is to raise $110,000 for this year’s climb. This amount would allow us to reach $1million in support of the Pediatric Mental Health Institute since the inaugural Climbing For Kids event in 2009. I'd like to invite you to help us meet that impressive goal. I would love to have you hike alongside me or donate!
Your engagement and support of youth mental health is needed more than ever. Children's Hospitals across the country are overwhelmed and have declared a "State of Emergency" for pediatric mental health.
Suicide is the leading cause of death among Colorado youth ages 10-24 years old.
40% of teens in Colorado struggle with mental health challenges and less than 50% of these kids will ever receive ANY form of treatment.
Adolescent suicide attempts have increased by 215% and are the top reason that patients seek mental health care in our emergency departments.
Approximately 50% of students age 14 and older with a mental illness drop out of school.
Over the last three years, you (my friends and family) have donated over $14,000 to support PMHI. This has helped drive awareness and financial support for the 50% of kids who can’t afford access to therapy or mental health professionals. My goal this year is to help reach the $1 Million goal in support of teen mental health.
