Southern Colorado Mountain Movers - Climbing for Kids, August 16, 2024
Climbing for Kids is one of Colorado's most anticipated summer family events, which benefits Children's Hospital Colorado, supporting children in our community, living with mental health challenges. Your engagement and commitment to support pediatric mental health research, resources, access, and so much more, is needed now more than ever!
Climbing for Kids has spent many years fundraising for Children's Colorado's pediatric mental health. We are thrilled to announce if this year, as a group, we raise over $50,000 the event will hit one million dollars in lifetime fundraising! We would absolutely love to have you join us for The Million Dollar Climb this year!
Mental health is health. It is fundamental to a happy, healthy future for our kids. The statistics are staggering, and the problem is simply too large and too complicated for any one institution to tackle alone:
- Suicide is a leading cause of death among Colorado youth ages 10-24 years old.
- 50% of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by the age of 14 and 75% by age 24.
- 44% of American teens report feeling persistently sad or hopeless.
- Out of the 226,000 kids and teens in Colorado who have diagnosable mental health conditions, only 22% of them will receive professional care.
Southern Colorado Mountain Movers, through our participation in and support of Climbing for Kids, we will aim to increase awareness and financial support for the care of children and families who require early prevention, ongoing therapy, and access to the medical professionals who can make a difference for kids who need it most...for the kids who have a much larger mountain to climb.
Whether you'll join us as we summit this mountain or want to participate virtually, there's always a way to support this worthy cause. Join us!
