In late 2022, Aubrie's family noticed her eyes turning yellow, leading to a diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis of the liver at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Later, she also developed severe aplastic anemia, a life-threatening condition. Despite undergoing immunosuppressive therapy, doctors determined she needed a bone marrow transplant, which she bravely prepared for by chopping her hair into a purple pixie cut.

Although her transplant was successful, complications followed, including a virus that required groundbreaking therapy using white blood cells from her grandmother. Now 12, Aubrie is virus-free and recently celebrated her 1-year bone marrow transplant anniversary. As she continues treatment, her family is hopeful for her full recovery.
