While most of her classmates were enjoying their senior year of high school, Sam had surgery and started chemotherapy to remove the tumors caused by Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system. As her hair fell out, Sam started to accept the challenges she was facing, becoming an inspiration to younger patients at Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
